4-Hydroxyethylpiperazine ethanesulfonic acid (HEPES) is an important hydrogen ion buffer, which has good buffering capacity in the range of pH 6.8 to 8.2, and can control a constant pH for a long time. The use concentration is 10-50mmol/L. Generally, if the culture medium contains 20mmol/L 4-hydroxyethylpiperazine ethanesulfonic acid, it has good buffering capacity and has no toxicity to cells.
